Honor YOUR nurse with a DAISY Award!

July 27, 2020

I was thrilled to learn about the DAISY Foundation, a remarkable organization that exclusively honors nurses for the incredible efforts they make daily. Bonnie & Mark Barnes wanted to keep the memory of Patrick Barnes alive in a unique way by awarding his nurses (and eventually nurses around the world) with a tangible, heartfelt recognition by their peers/patients. I learned on the show that 1.8 Million nominations have been made and 144,000 awards given around the world. Bonnie & Mark just launched a book to tell the 20-year story: “Shining the Light On All the Right.” So many people now jump on the bandwagon of calling nurses (s)heros, without TRULY recognizing the life-changing gifts they share every day. Nurses tend to believe it is JUST part of the job. In truth, it is just part of who they are at their core. Unless they have had an experience like the Barnes’ with Patrick, FEW people know what it is exactly that nurses do. A long-time treasured volunteer for DAISY, Nurse Cindy Lefton, will join us to fill out the story with data of how this award has impacted Nurses the world over.

TOXIC Leadership: Hospital Change is Needed NOW!

August 3, 2020

One of the outcomes of the World Pandemic of COVID-19 is uncovering of all the cracks and deficits in our Public Health and Healthcare Systems in the USA, that have been happening over many years. It is open to all eyes at this point that there is NO equity in our healthcare. The poor, black, brown, indigenous and immigrants receive the worst or NO care in our system. The wealthy receive much better care, but still when we look at the statistics of care in the United States compared to other FIRST World countries, we are not only NOT at the top, in some cases we are not even NEAR the top. My Guests had a fast paced, packed and interesting discussion about where we are and HOW Toxic Leadership has gotten us here. Dr. Dan Weberg, an expert in nursing, healthcare innovation & human-centered patient design, is the Head of Clinical Innovation for Trusted Health and is in San Francisco. Michelle Lemmons, is a BSN and OR Educator at Key Surgical in Eden Prairie, MN.
